The Dynamic Distortion is based on mods we preformed for many iconic users of the Maxon Sonic Distortion (SD-9). The SD9 is good stock, however the pedal has some shortcomings that many of its users find undesireable - the tone control is unuseable in most positions, there isn't enough output with the guitar volume rolled down, the gain range is limited, and the tactile on/off footswitch engages intermittently. With the Dynamic Distortion, we took this feedback created our own version of the circuit. We reshaped the tone control to provide a fully useable range with no "ice pickey" treble frequencies, we added more output and clean headroom, we added a wider range gain from low, to medium, to high gain, and implemented an Alpha 3PDT on/off footswitch. The essence and character of the SD-9 is maintined, with none of the drawbacks.
