When using this pedal, start off slow, and monitor your amp for potential damage. Don̥t have too much\u003cbr\u003efun! OK, have too much fun, but don̥t blow up your amp in the process. Unless that̥s what you want, of course, and\u003cbr\u003ewell, gosh darn it, it̥s your right. Good ol̥ Pete Townsend did it. Well, at least he poked his speakers out. All right, I̥ll\u003cbr\u003etry to stay on track here.\u003cbr\u003eAhem. The SUPER-DUPER 2-IN-1å» has two of my infamous but rather delightful Super Hard-Onå» pedals in one\u003cbr\u003esmall box. Also, in this SUPER-DUPER 2-IN-1å» is a Master Volume control that lets you use it as an overdrive\/distortion\u003cbr\u003ewith any output volume. My my! How conventional, you say! Well, suffice to say, if it weren̥t there, you̥d go\u003cbr\u003edeaf with both of those channels cranked up. This pedal is dangerously loud. Don̥t do what I did, and lean over in\u003cbr\u003efront of your speaker cabinet while turning it up. Ouch. Dang.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eCHANNEL 1:\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis channel is a conventional Super Hard-On (TM), which I will henceforth refer to as the SHO, in order to reduce\u003cbr\u003epotential offense to young ears and sensitive persons. Its gain control is on the far right, and it̥s LED is yellow. If you\u003cbr\u003eare familiar with the SHO, you̥ll know that it̥s a very sparkly sounding high input-impedance preamp with incredible\u003cbr\u003eheadroom, wide-ranging gain (unity to 60 X), and a maximum volume that will knock out your fillings. Channel one\u003cbr\u003ehas no Master Volume control, but it̥s cascaded into Channel 2, which does...\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eCHANNEL 2 AND THE MASTER VOLUME\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis channel has the very same circuit as Channel 1, but the bleeder resistor on the output has been replaced with a\u003cbr\u003eMaster Volume control, which allows the user to turn down the output volume even if the gain is set quite high. The\u003cbr\u003eknob on the left is the gain, and the middle knob is the Master Volume, and the LED is red. When both channels are\u003cbr\u003eon, or if only Channel 2 is on, the Master Volume is active. If you leave the Master wide open, you have two identical\u003cbr\u003eSHO pedals in one box, which are cascaded.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWHAT DOES THIS PEDAL SOUND LIKE?\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003eYou might wonder just how insane this pedal sounds when you crank up both channels and turn them both on. Well,\u003cbr\u003eI̥ll tell you. I can̥t get my Les Paul to stop feeding back at any audible volume level on my Marshall when both channels\u003cbr\u003eare wide open, and that̥s with the amp set at 1. I̥m happy about that. Of course, this is not the only setting on\u003cbr\u003ethe pedal. I don̥t think there̥s a musician around who wouldn̥t be happy to have multiple clean boost pedals set to\u003cbr\u003epredictable levels available on stage. This pedal gives you a total of four volume levels, ranging, at your choice, anywhere\u003cbr\u003efrom perfectly clean to ragingly overdriven. Level 1, your guitar is true-bypassed with both channels off. Level\u003cbr\u003e2, you turn on Channel 1. Level 3, you turn off Channel 1 and turn on Channel 2. This is easy because you can put\u003cbr\u003eyour foot on both switches at once and alternate between the two channels if you want. Level 4, you turn on both\u003cbr\u003echannels.\u003cbr\u003eThere is no tone shaping in this pedal. It̥s two perfectly linear high-gain high input-impedance preamps that can be\u003cbr\u003ecascaded, with a total gain that ranges from unity to 3600. That̥s right, the maximum gain with both channels wide\u003cbr\u003eopen is a whopping 3600, which is so completely distorted, hissy, feedbacky, and insane, that you̥ll never ever have\u003cbr\u003ea steady relationship again. Or a lease. Or a pet. Luckily, with the Master Volume, you can listen to what it would\u003cbr\u003esound like to lose everything you love at a reasonable volume. Naturally, because there is no tone-shaping, your\u003cbr\u003eguitar just sounds like a really loud version of your guitar, and your amp sounds like a really big version of your amp,\u003cbr\u003eand if your normal tone is somewhat bloated, it will get very very bloated when you use this pedal set to high gains.\u003cbr\u003eIt does best if you are close to getting the tone you want out of your gear already, but just need a boost to make\u003cbr\u003eit go over the top.
